BAS held the nineteenth webinar, it was the eighth lecture in the field of coordination chemistry and electrochemistry, introduced by Prof. Masa-aki Haga, from Chuo University.

Corrosion is known to have a significant impact on our social life and industrial processes.
Corrosion is a problem that occurs with all the metals around us and becomes an important issue for corrosion protection in our infrastructure, from pipelines, bridges and buildings to vehicles and ships. In materials, corrosion has caused a loss of tensile strength and ductility.

In this lecture about corrosion, it was explained how to electrochemically evaluate the corrosion rate of metals and how to prevent corrosion by coating.
This time it was not include electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, which will be discussed later. It was focus on electron transfer kinetics, such as the Butler-Volmer equation and the Tafel equation.
