RE-6A Reference electrode for alkaline solution
Hg/Hg2O alkaline reference electrode is made of Mercury and mercury oxide instead of calomel paste,
and 1 M sodium hydroxide is used as an electrolyte solution. It is used under high pH environment as reference electrode. Main body is made of polyacetal resin.

The standard electrode potential of the Hg/Hg2O alkaline electrode in aqueous solution is:
Hg0 + H2O +2e ⇔ Hg + 2OH-
E0 = 0.098 Vs NHE 25°C
1. Structure of electrode

Note:The inner solution at receiving of product are ion exchange distilled water
2. How to use
2.1. Remove the main body from holder, inject the inner solution to the holder gently (Fig.2). After injection, fix the main body to the holder tightly.

When injecting the inner solution, air bubbles may occur in the holder. Air bubbles cause insulation for the electrode. Shake or flick the electrode gently to remove the bubbles. (Fig.3)

2.2. To stabilize the electrode potential, soak the electrode in the solution identical with inner solution.
Maybe take several days to stabilize the potential.

2.3. The stability of the electrode potential can be checked using potentiometry against to a standard reference electrode.

3. How to keep
For long-period of no-use, wash the main body and holder with pure water, then fill the holder with fresh 1M NaOH solution, in which the main body is fixed.

!!CAUTION!!
1. The electrode consists of mercury and mercury oxide. Handle carefully. Processing of internal solution after use, please do yourself.
2. Do not remove the label of electrode. The label is required for any case of inquiry.
3. The electrode is for alkaline solution measurement.
4. The electrode has individual difference, the electrode potential may not coincide with theoretical value.
5. The inner solution of electrode are supposed to use 1 M NaOH solution. Problem caused by using other concentration will not be guaranteed.
